AI is everywhere. And if you believe the hype, it can do everything we humans can do, only better, faster, and more efficient. From writing legal briefs and poetry to providing mental health care via a mobile app; from facial recognition or providing eldercare to generating art indistinguishable from that of the great masters. Some AI enthusiasts go so far as to claim that, in addition to imitating human minds and behavior, AI has actually achieved consciousness. But does AI live up to all the hype? Is it something to be feared or embraced? How should we think about AI?
Join four preeminent philosophers for a conversation about AI, consciousness and culture, moderated by Professor Kevin Corcoran (Calvin University). The conversation will focus on how AI’s work, what they can do and how reflection upon AI can help us better understand what it means to be human and to live a meaningful human life.
