Practice experience with children and families, hospice, emergency room, and interdisciplinary medical settings. Facilitates anti-racism training in the community. 

Academic Interests

Teaches courses including Global Issues and Perspectives, Practice with Individuals, Practice with Groups and Families, The Helping Interview, Introduction to Social Work, and Social Work Practicum. Also teaches in the Calvin Prison Initiative at the Handlon Campus.  

Research

Interprofessional education and practice, death and dying, grief and loss, attachment and trauma in adoption, Christian community development in urban settings, and anti-racism.

Awards

Named "Professor of the Year" by the Calvin Class of 2024.
