Jane Genzink

Jane Genzink

Biography

Ms. Genzink began her career in education at a local Christian school in a teaching and then later administrative capacity. Those experiences provided a base from which to draw in her current work coordinating the student teaching internship program in the Education Department. In this position, she collaborates with a team to place and supervise interns in diverse field placements.  Developing seminars with the input of colleagues and partners from the P-12 field, Ms. Genzink leads this team in the important and inspiring work of preparing responsive and transformative educators.  Her teaching responsibilities at Calvin have also included the Introduction to Education course and Teaching Mathematics in the Elementary and Middle School.

In addition to teaching in and coordinating the internship program, Ms. Genzink’s expertise and interest in teaching mathematics have afforded her the opportunity to collaborate with colleague and grant director, Dr. Jan Koop, in multiple Improving Teacher Quality grants from the Michigan Department of Education.  Bringing pedagogical knowledge and experience to the team, Ms. Genzink finds herself leading book clubs, observing in classrooms, and working alongside elementary teachers throughout the area as they seek to plan and implement engaging mathematics lessons that foster conceptual understanding for students.
