On Thursday, February 9, 2012, a handful of prestigious faculty awards were handed out at Calvin's annual Faculty Awards Dinner held at Calvin's Prince Conference Center.
Larry Louters, professor of chemistry, was the 2012 recipient of the Presidential Award for Exemplary Teaching, the highest honor that the college bestows upon any faculty member.
The college also handed out a handful of specialized teaching awards, established by the Office of the Provost, to recognize the contributions that faculty make to the Calvin College learning community.
David Smith, professor of Germanic Languages, received the Innovative Teaching Award; Kumar Sinniah, professor of chemistry, was awarded the student-faculty research award; Bob Eames, associate professor of business, received the Community-Based Teaching Award; Brian Ingraffia, associate professor of English, took home the From Every Nation Award for Excellence in Teaching and director of community engagement Gail Heffner, professor of engineering Matt Heun, professor of education Clarence Joldersma and professor of biology Dave Warners received the Collaborative Change Award.
