Calvin College professors and students are helping the people of west Michigan to understand the physical effects of the Iraqi war on innocent Iraqi children.

The Middle East Club of Calvin College, in partnership with a number of community organizations, has formed a group called Healing Children of Conflict (HCC). The group's vision is to heal families and communities by facilitating medical treatment for children seriously wounded in conflicts involving the United States.

On Thursday, November 5, 2009, Healing Children of Conflict will host a benefit to bring an Iraqi girl named Salee to the United States for much-needed medical treatment. In 2006, Salee lost both of her legs to a U.S. missile. For more of Salee's story, see www.nomorevictims.org/salee.php

The event, which begins at 6:30 p.m. at the 29th Street Hall in Grand Rapids, includes a Middle Eastern dinner, a silent auction, music and entertainment.
