With the win, Calvin sits in a tie for fourth place with Olivet in the league standings.

The Knights got on the board first when Emily VanVeldhuisen (Brookville, Md./Washington Christian Academy HS) headed in a corner kick ball served by Kailey Jo (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian HS).

At halftime, the score was 1-0 in Calvin's favor with the Knights outshooting their visitors 6-5.

"I challenged the team after our loss at Albion the other night," said Calvin women's soccer coach Mark Recker. "We started some really positive things at Albion but it slipped away with some missed opportunities. We are realizing that we need to put some balls in the back of the net and we did that with focus and determination this afternoon. I think this game was the most complete 90 minutes that we have put together this season. It feels very good to get a win against a quality team like Kalamazoo. Now we need to continue to build off this performance."

Calvin is back in action on Tuesday when the Knights travel to Adrian to take on the Bulldogs. Game time is at 7:00 p.m.
