Calvin Trio Named AVCA Division III All-Americans;
Men's Basketball Drops Exhibition Game at Northwood Insitute

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Three members of the Calvin women's volleyball team have received AVCA Division III All-America honors.
Senior Maggie Kamp has been named to the AVCA Division III All-America first team , sophomore Jenna Lodewyk has been named to the second team and junior Laura Danhoff has been named to the third team.
Kamp is from Orland Park, Illinois. She is a graduate of Chicago Christian High School. An outside hitter, the 6-2 Kamp is receiving first team AVCA Division III All-America honors for the third straight year. She joins older sister Rebecca Kamp (2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011) and former teammate Megan Rietema (2011, 2012, 2013) as one of three Calvin volleyball players to receive AVCA All-America honors a minimum of three times.
This fall, Kamp hit at a .271 clip this year while averaging 4.06 kills and 2.12 digs-per-set while amassing 31 service aces. Last Saturday, she was named to the all-tournament at the NCAA III Regional hosted by Calvin. Earlier in the fall, she was named to all-tournament teams at the Emory National Invitational and to the Calvin Midwest Invitational. She was also a three-time MIAA Player of the Week and was named the MIAA's Most Valuable Player. In addition, she landed a spot on the All-MIAA first team for the third consecutive year.
Lodewyk is from Villa Park, Illinois. She is a graduate of Timothy Christian High School. This is her second AVCA All-America citation as she was a third team selection in 2014. A 5-11 setter, Lodewyk averaged 10.5 assists and 2.28 digs-per-set this fall. She also has a hitting percentage of .315 and collected 43 service aces on the year. A two-time MIAA Specialty Player of the Week this fall and was named to the all-tournament team at the Calvin Labor Day Weekend Invitational. She was recently named to the All-MIAA first team for the second straight year.
Danhoff is from Willard, Ohio. She is a graduate of Willard High School. A 6-2 middle-hitter, Danhoff is receiving AVCA Division III All-America honors for the second time. In 2014, she was named to the AVCA All-America second team. This fall Danhoff averaged 2.98 kills and 0.70 blocks-per-set and had 71 services on the year. She also had a team-leading .359 hitting percentage. She was named to the All-MIAA first team and Great Lakes All-Region team.
Last weekend she was named to the all-tournament team of the NCAA III Regional hosted by Calvin. During the season, she was named MIAA Player of the Week twice and was named to the all-tournament team of the Calvin Labor Day Weekend Invitational.
The Calvin women's volleyball team concluded its season last Saturday in the NCAA III Regional finals, finishing the year with an overall record of 30-4. The Knights finished 16-0 in the MIAA and then captured the MIAA Tournament title.

MEN'S BASKETBALL
MIDLAND, Mich. - The Calvin men's basketball took on Division II Northwood Tuesday afternoon in a game that served as an exhibition contest for the Knights. Northwood defeated Calvin 101-94 in a high-scoring affair.
Calvin had a strong start, leading 43-36 but Northwood went on a 16-1 run, en route to taking a 52-45 lead.
Calvin remain within striking distance for much of the second half, trailing just 79-73 with 7:57 to play. Northwood then went on a late-game surge to hold off the Knights down the stretch.
Calvin connected on 17 of 31 from three-point range led by junior Nate Drews and sophomore Tony Canonie who canned four three-pointers apiece.
Junior Cameron Denney led Calvin in scoring with 16 points to go with nine rebounds while junior Brad Visser had 15 points. Canonie had 14 points, Drews 12 points, senior Jordan Daley and sophomore Michael Wilks 10 points.
Calvin will now prepare to open its season on Friday at 5:30 p.m. against Waynesburg College (Pa.) in the opener of the Great Lakes Challenge at Ohio Wesleyan University.
