MEN'S GOLF
The Calvin men's golf team took second at the eighth and final MIAA Jamboree of the year on Monday afternoon, posting a team score of 314 at its home course the Watermark Country Club.
With its second place performance, Calvin finishes second in the final MIAA regular season standings, 21 strokes behind MIAA champion Hope. In finishing second, Calvin clinches a spot in the MIAA Spring Tournament for the third consecutive year and will host one of the three 18-hole rounds that make up the MIAA Spring Tournament. The MIAA Spring Tournament includes the top four teams from the MIAA fall regular season with the winner of the spring tournament receiving an automatic bid to the NCAA III Tournament. Hope will host the final two 18-hole rounds of the spring tournament with Trine and Adrian also participating in the four-team field.
Calvin handled brisk winds and cool conditions on Monday to remain in second place, finishing five strokes ahead of third place Trine.
Junior James Van Noord (Troy/Troy Athens HS) led Calvin on Monday with a round of 77 that was good for a tie for sixth place. It also allowed him to finish in second place in the final MIAA individual standings with an average of 74.6 strokes-per-round. Van Noord's average matches the third-best single-season MIAA (fall) average in Calvin men's golf history. It also landed him a spot on the All-MIAA first team for the first time.
