Calvin Lands Seven on All-MIAA Women's Swimming and Diving Team;
Four Members of Calvin Men's Swimming & Diving Team Receive All-MIAA Honors
 
WOMEN'S SWIMMING AND DIVING
 
Seven members of the Calvin women's swimming and diving team have received All-MIAA honors. It marks the second-highest single-season total in Calvin swimming and diving history.
 
Named to the All-MIAA team from Calvin are senior Rachel Bos, juniors Rachel Colasurdo, Stephanie Fox, Elizabeth Counsell, Samantha Klaasen and freshmen Erika Waugh and Kathryn Wrobel.
 
Bos (Hudsonville/Unity Christian HS) is receiving All-MIAA honors for the second time in her career. She was a big point producer for Calvin at the conference meet last weekend, placing seventh in the 50 freestyle, third in the 100 butterfly and fourth in the 100 freestyle. She also swam legs on Calvin's first place 200 freestyle relay team.
 
Colasurdo (Chesapeake, VA/Home Schooled) is receiving All-MIAA honors for the first time. She was also a big point producer for Calvin last weekend, placing second in the 100 butterfly, fifth in the 50 freestyle and fifth in the 200 butterfly while also swimming on Calvin's first place 200 freestyle and 200 medley relay teams.
 
Counsell (Indianapolis, IN/Heritage Christian HS) meanwhile is receiving All-MIAA honors for the third straight year. She repeated as league champion last weekend in both the 100 breaststroke and 200 breaststroke events while also placing seventh in the 500 freestyle and swimming a leg of Calvin's winning 200 medley relay.
 
Fox (Kentwood/Home Schooled) is receiving All-MIAA accolades for the second straight year. At the MIAA Championships, she placed second in the 200 IM and 200 freestyle, third in the 100 freestyle and swam on Calvin's first place 200 freestyle and 200 medley relay teams.
 
Like Fox, Klaasen (Holland/Holland Christian HS) is receiving All-MIAA honors for the second straight year. At the MIAA Championships, Klaasen repeated as MIAA champion on the one-meter diving board while placing second on the three-meter board. At the conclusion of the meet, she was named the MIAA's Most Valuable Diver for the second straight year. It marks the sixth time in eight years that Calvin has had an individual receive MIAA Most Valuable Diver honors on the women's side.
 
Wrobel (Arden Hills, MN/Mounds View HS) was a key contributor for Calvin in her first year as a collegiate swimmer. At the MIAA Championships, she third in the 200 freestyle and 500 freestyle and second in the 1,650 freestyle.
 
Waugh (Berne, IN/South Adams HS) had a big weekend as well, winning the MIAA title in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:06.42. In the morning prelims, she established a new Calvin record time of 2:06.29, breaking the previous Calvin record of 2:07.56 set by Monica Bressler in 2009. She also placed second in the 100 backstroke and sixth in the 500 freestyle and was a member of Calvin's first place 200 medley relay team.
 
At the MIAA Championships, Calvin took first place with a team score of 803.5 points, finishing 143.5 points ahead of second place Hope. The first place finish allowed Calvin to capture its eighth straight MIAA title including its 10th league crown in the last 12 years.
 
MEN'S SWIMMING AND DIVING
 
Four members of the Calvin men's swimming and diving team have received All-MIAA honors. Named to the All-MIAA team from Calvin are senior Ross Battoclette, junior Mark Rushlow, sophomore Andrew Krafft and freshman Travis Vincent.
 
Battoclette (Cincinnati, OH/Clark Montesorri HS) is receiving All-MIAA accolades for the first time. At the MIAA Championships, Battoclette captured the league title in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:42.63. His win marked the first 200 freestyle league title in Calvin men's swimming history. He also placed second in the 200 backstroke with a school record time of 1:54.37, breaking the previous Calvin record of 1:54.66 set by Mike Lubbers in 1996. He was also fourth in the 500 freestyle with a time of 4:42.06. In addition, he anchored Calvin's 200 medley and 400 medley relay teams. Calvin's 200 medley relay team took fourth with a school record time of 1:33.84 while its 400 medley relay team took second with a school record time of 3:24.92.
 
Rushlow (Goshen, IN/Middlebury Northridge HS) also had a huge weekend, winning the 100 butterfly with an NCAA III automatic qualifying time of 49.33 that was just eight hundreths of a second off the Calvin school record time of 49.25. He also placed third in the 100 backstroke and second in the 100 freestyle. In addition, he was a part of Calvin's school record-setting 200 and 400 medley relay teams. Rushlow is receiving All-MIAA honors for the second straight year.
 
Krafft (Fort Wayne, IN/Home Schooled) is also making his second straight appearance on the All-MIAA team. He has also been named the MIAA's Most Valuable Diver for the second straight season. At the MIAA Championships last weekend, he repeated as league champion on the one-meter board (534.85 points) and three-meter board (575.10 points). Both winning point totals were school records as he reset his own school marks in both events.
 
Vincent (Novi/Novi HS) also made a big splash in his first conference meet as a collegian. Last weekend at the MIAA Championships, he finished third in the 200 breaststroke with a school record time of 2:07.07. He also placed second in the 400 IM and third in the 200 IM.
 
At the MIAA Championships, Calvin placed fourth with a school record point total of 635 points.
