Calvin Lands Eight on All-MIAA Men's Soccer Teams
 
MEN'S SOCCER
 
Eight members of the Calvin men's soccer team have received either first or second team All-MIAA honors. Named to the All-MIAA first team from Calvin are senior Miles Colago, juniors Dan Nederhoed and Nick Holtrop, sophomore Zach Willis and freshman Dino Duratovic. Named to the All-MIAA second team from Calvin are senior Justin Ahearne and juniors Michael Dolan and Chris Nance.
 
Colago is receiving All-MIAA first team accolades for the second straight year while Nederhoed, Holtrop, Willis and Duratovic are being so honored for the first time.
 
Colago (Anoka, MN/Anoka HS) is a defender. He tallied three goals during the season. Nederhoed (Kentwood/East Kentwood HS) is also a defender and played primarily at an outside back position, helping Calvin post 11 shutouts during the year. A midfielder, Holtrop (Hudsonville/Unity Christian HS) has scored three goals this year and tallied game-winners against both Olivet and Hope. A striker, Willis (Grandville/Unity Christian HS) Willis captured the MIAA scoring title this fall with 26 points in league play, scoring nine goals and assisting on eight. A midfielder, Duratovic (Caledonia/East Kentwood HS) was also a key part of a Calvin team that scored a league-leading 35 goals in conference play. In conference play, Duratovic had four goals, seven assists and 15 points to rank fifth in the MIAA scoring race.
 
A central defender, Ahearne (Hudsonville/Hudsonville HS) is one of four members of the Calvin defense to earn either first or second team All-MIAA accolades. He had a goal and an assist in league play and was named MIAA Defensive Player of the Week once.
 
Calvin's starting goalkeeper, Dolan (Casco/Marine City HS) was superb for the Knights this fall as he led the MIAA in goals-against-average (0.30) and save percentage (.923). He also recorded four shutouts in league play and was named MIAA Defensive Player of the Week once.
 
A striker, Nance (Washington, Mich./Warren DeLaSalle HS) also came up big for the Knights this year, scoring six goals and tallying five assists in league play to finish fourth in the MIAA scoring race with with 17 points. Of his six goals, four were game-winners. He was named MIAA Offensive Player of the Week once.
 
Calvin captured the 2011 MIAA regular season title with a record of 11-2-1. The title was Calvin's fifth straight. Calvin is the first team in MIAA men's soccer history to record five straight league titles. Calvin is scheduled to open NCAA III Tournament play Friday night at 6 p.m. (EST) against Carthage College in a four-team regional at Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa.
