WOMEN'S SWIMMING AND DIVING
For the second consecutive year the Calvin women’s swimming and diving team
have landed seven individuals on the All-MIAA women’s swimming and diving
team. The total matches the highest number of All-MIAA selections in Calvin
women’s swimming and diving history with the Knights also accomplishing the
feat in 2001.
Named to the All-MIAA team from Calvin are seniors Erica Deur, Cara Van
Woerkom and Julie Wolfe, juniors Emily Roberts, Maggie Vail and Laura Price and
sophomore Monica Bressler.
A native of Holland and a graduate of Holland Christian High School, Deur is
making her fourth consecutive appearance on the All-MIAA team and is the 10th
individual in Calvin women’s swimming and diving history to reap All-MIAA
accolades four straight years. At the MIAA Championships last month, Deur
captured the MIAA one-meter title for the fourth straight year and the MIAA
three-meter title for the fourth straight year - en route to receiving MIAA
Most Valuable Diver Of the Year honors for the fourth straight season. Deur is
the only diver in MIAA women’s swimming and diving history to capture a
diving event four straight years at the league championships.
Deur holds the MIAA record on both the one-meter (507.19) and three-meter
(491.25) boards, setting both records at the recent MIAA Championships.
Van Woerkom is from Wyoming and is a graduate Calvin Christian High School.
She is making her second straight appearance on the All-MIAA team. At the MIAA
Championships, Van Woerkom was the league runner-up in the 50 freestyle

freestyle relay (3:29.22). Calvin’s times in the 400 medley and 800 freestyle
relays were all MIAA record times.

freestyle relay teams. Calvin’s time of 1:45.90 in the 200 medley relay was a
school and MIAA record time.

for the third straight year. At the conclusion of the MIAA Championships,
Roberts was named the MIAA’s Most Valuable Swimmer, joining Katie Nagelkirk
and Becky Weima as the only three individuals in Calvin women’s swimming
history to be so honored. At the MIAA Championships, Roberts captured league
titles in the 100 breaststroke (1:02.72) and 200 IM (2:06.55) while placing
third in the 200 breaststroke (2:22.64). Her times in the 100 breaststroke and

was not only the fastest time in NCAA III swimming this year, but also was the
second fastest time in NCAA III women’s swimming history. Roberts also swam
on Calvin’s first place 200 medley and 400 medley relay teams as well as
