In the women's competition, Calvin freshman Rebekah Weima of Grand Rapids
Christian High School continued her sensational freshman campaign as she
shattered Calvin records in the 100 butterfly and 200 freestyle while also
swimming a leg on Calvin's 400 medley relay that also established a new
Calvin mark.

In the 100 butterfly, Weima took fifth with an NCAA III conditional qualifying
time of 58.47 that shattered the previous Calvin record of 59.15 set by current
Calvin sophomore Abby Johnson last year. Weima then led off Calvin's 800
freestyle relay with a lead-off leg of 1:51.99 that is an NCAA III automatic
qualifying time including the fastest time in NCAA III women's swimming this
year. In addition, it shattered her own school record of 1:53.25 set earlier
this year. Weima now owns Calvin individual records in the 100 and 200
freestyle as well as the 100 butterfly. Calvin's 800 freestyle relay team of
Weima, senior Brittney Stevens (Mankato, MN), sophomore Lynn Visser (Jenison
HS) and Abby Johnson (Grand Haven HS) took fourth with an NCAA III conditional

breaking the previous school mark of 4:07.23. Johnson led off the relay with a
100 backstroke split of 1:01.67 that nearly shattered Calvin's record of
1:01.30 established by current Calvin assistant coach Katie Nagelkirk.

In the 200 IM, Weima and Johnson both posted NCAA III conditional qualifying
times as Weima took second (2:09.92) and Johnson fourth (2:11.82). Freshman

13th in the 200 IM.
