Tricia Dyk and Kristin Carlson Named to Great Lakes All-Region Teams
By National Soccer Coaches Association of America

For the third consecutive year, Tricia Dyk has received Great Lakes All-Region
honors. A senior at Calvin, Dyk has been named to the Great Lakes All-Region
first team. Dyk is now eligible for NCAA III All-America consideration. Dyk
was named to the Great Lakes All-Region second team in 2000 and 2001.

A native of Grand Haven and a graduate of Western Michigan Christian High
School, Dyk led the MIAA in scoring this fall with 44 points on the strength of
17 goals and 10 assists and received MIAA Player of the Week honors twice during
the year. In addition, Dyk was named the MIAA's Most Valuable Player for the
second straight year and landed a spot on the All-MIAA first team for the fourth
straight year, becoming just the seventh player in MIAA women's soccer history
to achieve the feat four consecutive years. She is also the third player from
Calvin to receive All-MIAA first team honors four straight years as her sister,
Tara Dyk-Wegner, accomplished the feat from 1995-1998 as did Cara Jansen during
the same four-year span. Overall, Dyk picked up 19 goals and collected 14
assists this fall, matching a Calvin single-season record for assists. She also
moved into a second place tie with older sister Tara Dyk-Wegner on the MIAA
career points list with 146 points.

Also receiving Great Lakes All-Region honors is Calvin sophomore Kristin
Carlson of Encinitas, California. A sweeper back from Santa Fe Christian High
School, Carlson has been named to the Great Lakes All-Region third team.
Carlson picked up one goal on the season and anchored a Calvin defense that
    posted six shutout victories.

Calvin finished the season with a 12-6-1 overall record and a 9-3-2 conference
mark that was good for a third place MIAA finish. With its 12 victories, Calvin
reached the double-digit plateau in victories for the 14th straight year.
Calvin has now had its women's soccer players receive Great Lakes All-Region
honors 18 times since women's soccer became a varsity sport in 1988.
