MEN'S AND WOMEN'S TRACK & FIELD
ALMA, MI * Both Calvin track and field teams rolled to MIAA dual meet
victories at Alma Saturday afternoon as both teams improved to 3-0 in MIAA dual
meet competition. In the women's competition, Calvin defeated Alma 122-31
while on the men's side, Calvin defeated the Scots 101-48.
In the women's competition, Calvin sophomore Katie Corner of Grand Rapids
Catholic Central High School punched her official ticket to the NCAA III Outdoor
Track and Field Championships as she took first place in the discus with a
school record and NCAA III automatic qualifying mark of 149-4. Corner's
record throw marked the fifth time she has reset the women's discus record at
Calvin this year. Her throw was also the third-best effort in NCAA III
women's track and field this spring. Corner was part of a 1-2 Calvin
finish in the discus as senior Liz Blevins (Marion) took second with a
personal-best throw of 127-1. In the shot put, the Calvin women went 1-2-3 with
