MEN'S BASKETBALL
Over the years, Calvin-Kalamazoo men's basketball games have featured
several defensive battles. Saturday's game between the Knights and
Hornets was anything but the sort as Calvin recorded a 97-85 victory in
front of more than 3,400 fans at the Calvin Fieldhouse.
Calvin took a 60-46 halftime lead behind a blistering 69.4 percent
shooting attack with freshman forward Chris Prins (Escondido, CA)
leading the way for the Knights with 20 points on 8-of-9 shooting.
Calvin's 60-point effort in the first half marked its highest offensive
output in a half this year. Kalamazoo (5-9 overall, 0-2 MIAA) was also
red-hot from the floor in the first half, connecting on 54.8 percent of
its field goal attempts with sophomore forward Scott Montmorency pouring
in 24 points on 9-of-11 shooting.

their attempts.

88-77 with Montmorency and sophomore Dirk Rhinehart combining for 15 of
Kalamazoo's 16 points in the run. Kalamazoo would later close to within
10 points at 95-85 with 37 seconds remaining but would get no closer.
