Laura Damon
Biography
Laura received her BA in Global and Area Studies from Michigan State University, where she specialized in International Development and African Studies. She then spent 4 years working in refugee resettlement and immigration services in Grand Rapids. Laura then lived abroad for 2 years - traveling, volunteering, and trekking in 20 countries, which led her to work with some wonderful educational programs in Nepal and Kenya that led her to a new passion for supporting students in higher education. She now works as a Student Success Specialist and Academic Counselor, helping first-year students in their transition to Calvin University, with a focus on those from our international student community. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, reading, and spending time with family and volunteering as an ESL tutor.
