This 21-day CCE course features 17 nights in rural Costa Rican homes, backpacking in the Costa Rican rain forest, exploration of remote villages, rappelling, caving, white water rescue, white-water kayaking, snorkeling, and surfing.
Students will develop cross-cultural awareness and interpersonal communication skills through three weeks of immersion in Costa Rican culture, Spanish language, and daily interaction with Tico and Tica Instructors and their families. All students will be evaluated based on one pre-course research project and lesson plan, daily journaling, one reflection paper, and team participation and daily engagement. This course utilizes five world class locations; the Los Santos Forest Preserve, the Savagre River, Isla Del Cano Biological Preserve, Ballena Marine National Park, and Corcovado National Park. This course qualifies for CCE. Ability to speak Spanish is beneficial, but not required.
