On January 10, 2000 the Calvin College Fine Arts Center Auditorium will be the site for The Michigan Republican Presidential Debate, featuring six GOP candidates for president. The debate is being hosted by WOOD TV, the Michigan Republicans, the Kent County Republicans and Calvin College, one of the nation's largest and best Christian liberal arts college with an enrollment of 4,273 students and 90 majors and academic programs.

The landmark event will be held from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the Fine Arts Center Auditorium on the Calvin College campus. That Auditorium seats a little over 1,100 for an event of this nature. Thus confirmed for the debate are GOP candidates Gary Bauer, George W. Bush, Steve Forbes, Orrin Hatch, Alan Keyes and John McCain. Bush declined the initial invitation and then accepted on Monday, January 3, 2000.

WOOD TV (Grand Rapids NBC affiliate) will broadcast the debate live.
