Integrated bamboo development project: a scalable model for boosting the achievement of the UN sustainable development goals in developing countries
More than 1400 bamboo species survive worldwide, with 115 known in 48 African countries. Yet, many bamboo species are threatened with extinction in their endemic ranges. There are over 1500 ways in which humans use bamboo around the world. An integrated bamboo development industry can be used to boost natural capital, physical capital, social capital, financial capital and human capital, thereby fast-tracking the achievement of the UN sustainable development goals, especially in developing countries. How can this vision be achieved?
