Leveraging Laboratory Activities to Achieve STEM Education Reforms
The purpose of this research is to strengthen scientific teaching strategies, student-centered pedagogues, and teaching/learning scholarship in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) departments at Calvin College.
This project involved reviewing data from past semesters and working toward a new lab manual, as well as sharing findings in the form of manuscripts for publication in professional journals. Through development and testing of multi-week investigatory models, the goal of this project is to devise learning environments in cellular and molecular biology laboratory courses where master of interdisciplinary science competencies is integrated with the best educational practices.
