This course will examine multiple frameworks for understanding how Christian commitments can inform teacher identity and formation and guide professional practice.

The course will include attention to how the Bible, with its diversity of genres, functions as an educational text, as well as to exemplars of Christian engagement with education and key facets of teacher and student vocation. A range of faith-informed practices will be examined as they apply to professional practice in educational settings. Students will actively explore the knowledge, practices and dispositions of teaching and learning through examination of model teaching, enactment of core practices in small groups, and critical listening and discussion. The course will focus on what it means to live out Christian faith commitments and communication practices in a variety of settings.
