Mentoring Scholarship

Offices and Services / Center for Intercultural Student Development / Mentoring / Mentoring Scholarship

The Mentoring Program seeks to develop maturing and increasingly devoted disciples of Jesus Christ among students by linking one generation of Jesus’ followers with the next. By connecting students with mentors and offering an incentive to begin (or continue) an intentional relationship, the Mentoring Scholarship encourages students to experience the profound impact of having a mentor in their lives.

Students who demonstrate financial need as well as a genuine desire to invest in a mentoring relationship may apply to receive a Mentoring Scholarship in the amount of $1,500.

Requirements

First-time applicants

Students who receive the Mentoring Scholarship will be required to:

  1. Attend the mentoring program orientation in September.
  2. Take the initiative to meet with their mentor a minimum of six times per semester (for about an hour). Mentees are required to journal each interaction with their mentor (journals are provided by the mentoring office).
  3. Attend one-on-ones with the Mentoring Coordinator.
  4. Attend at least three events put on by the Mentoring Office.
  5. Set goals for personal and spiritual growth as they make this relationship a priority.
  6. Write a letter of thanks to the scholarship donor (fall) and a reflection on mentoring (spring).

Renewing applicants

Apply for the Mentoring Scholarship

To apply for the Mentoring Scholarship, you must complete the named scholarship application before you will be presented with the Mentoring Scholarship questions.

No late entries can be accepted. It is the student’s responsibility to ensure that the application is complete by the February 1 deadline.

Please note: Students receiving this scholarship must be studying on-campus for the semester(s) during the award. Mentoring relationships must not be associated with employment or paid student leadership positions. Students receiving a stipend and placed into a mentoring relationship—such as RAs, WAs., and Student Senate Executive Team—are not qualified. Failure to meet the requirements or demonstrate a genuine desire to grow through mentoring will result in the revocation of the scholarship.
