Biography

Estella was born in Cameroon. She attended the Presbyterian Primary School Santa and proceeded to Nacho Comprehensive High School for secondary education. She holds a BSc in Industrial Chemistry; an MSc degree in Analytical Chemistry from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria; a second MSc degree in Mineral chemistry, and a PhD in Mineral/Environmental chemistry, both from the University of Yaounde I, Cameroon.

Her PhD research was pioneer to determine an increase in pH of effluent discharged to the environment in plasma-chemical degradation of wastewater using the Gliding arc discharge plasma technique to produce environmentally friendly products.

She is a lecturer at the University of Dschang on appointment in The University of Bamenda, where she has held the post of Chair, Department of Chemistry for seven years and currently, Secretary General of the Higher Teachers Training College. She is an Associate Professor of Environmental Chemistry with major research areas being: Drinkable water and wastewater quality assessment and treatment; and Investigation of the chemistry of soils for environmental impact assessment and remediation. She has supervised research works of many students at the MSc and PhD levels in the following specific areas: Wastewater quality assessment and remediation by Plasma-chemical degradation and Adsorption; Domestic water quality assessment for potability checks; Soil chemistry and pollution assessment; and Environmental impact assessment of wastes around active and abandoned dumpsites especially sites used for agriculture. Results of these research projects have been published in more than thirty articles in peer reviewed journals.

Estella is a Christian with The Apostolic Church (TAC) where she is a preacher and counsellor/intercessor. She enjoys playing tennis and listening to gospel music. Estella easily adapts to new work environments as she easily collaborates with people of different cultural backgrounds.
