Career Breakfast with Justin Giboney

  • Thursday, September 30, 2021
  • 8:00 AM–9:00 AM
  • Hiemenga Hall 366

Talk with Justin Giboney about his path as an ordained minister, social activist, attorney, and political activist. Ask questions about how you can be involved in social justice and standing up as a Christian in the public square.

Some of Justin Giboney’s career background:

  • Vanderbilt University undergrad and law school
  • Practiced medical malpractice law in Atlanta
  • Worked on Kasim Reed’s successful political campaign for mayor of Atlanta
  • Atlanta city attorney
  • Delegate to the Democratic National Convention in 2012 and 2016
  • Co-founder of the AND Campaign in 2015, with hip-hop artist Sho Baraka and Angel Maldonado to connect conviction and compassion within politics. The AND Campaign leans left but has increasingly become a space for Christians dissatisfied with both political parties
  • In 2020, AND launched a Prayer (&) Action justice initiative and raised $1.3 million for low-income churches to get through the COVID crisis
  • Recently published Compassion (&) Conviction: The AND Campaign’s Guide to Faithful Civic Engagement.

You must RSVP for this event to Ellen Hekman (elh4@calvin.edu) to reserve a place. Include your cell phone number and any dietary restrictions.
