Meeting David Wilson is a feature length documentary about David
Wilson, a 28-year-old African-American journalist who journeys into his family's
past, including the life of another David Wilson, a white man from Carolina
whose family owned the journalist's family during slavery.

Coy Davis presents: Whatever Happened to Idlewild?
Commons Lecture Hall

This documentary takes a historical look at the experiences of
African-Americans between the 1920s through the present using Idlewild,
Michigan as its frame of reference. Idlewild was a haven for Black
entertainment in the Midwest during the segregation era and explores the
social, political, and economic factors that shaped and continue to shape the
lives and experiences of African-Americans including many living here in Grand
Rapids today.

Black Alumni Panel Discussion

What memories and experiences do African-American alumni have of Calvin College? How did
their college experience prepare them for the world they serve today? What
pieces of advice can they offer current students as they try to make
the most of their Calvin experience? Come and hear responses to these and many
other questions from a panel of African-American alumni. Panelists will include Toyin
Adegbite Moore, the current chair of the Calvin Alumni Association, and others.
