Kayla Van Lenten Named MIAA Women's Field Athlete of the Week;
Women's Lacrosse Game Against Hope Postponed Until Thursday;
Calvin Men's Golf Knight Invite Cancelled Due to Weather
WOMEN'S OUTDOOR TRACK AND FIELD
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association named Kayla Van Lenten the Women's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week for her performance at the Oakland Golden Grizzly Invite on Friday.
A senior from Hawthorne, New Jersey, Van Lenten is claiming the honor for the second time this year.
"Kayla did a great job this weekend," said head coach Bret Otte. "She had an outstanding outing in both events. She has done some outstanding things this year and we are looking forward to the next few weeks."
On Friday, she broke her outdoor record at the pole vault at Oakland. Van Lenten recorded a finish at 10 feet, 6 inches.
She also hopped off the bus and broke her career record in the high jump. Clearing 5 feet, 3 inches.
Van Lenten currently leads the MIAA at 5' 3", ahead of Grace Hearth of Alma College at 4' 11".
Nationally she is ranked 26th in the pole vault at 3.2 meters and her high jump of 1.6 meters is tied for ninth in the nation.
Van Lenten and the Knights return to action on Friday when they will compete at the GVSU Al Owens Invitational.
WOMEN'S LACROSSE
The Calvin women's lacrosse game against rival Hope has been postponed for Tuesday night due to snow and ice conditions in West Michigan. The rivalry match up has been rescheduled for Thursday at 7 p.m. at Zuidema Field and will feature Calvin's Senior Night as seniors Amanda Davio, Emma Hall and Madeline Baas will play in their regular season home game.
MEN'S GOLF
The Calvin men's golf team was scheduled to host the annual Knight Invite on Tuesday. The tournament has been cancelled and will not be made up because of weather conditions.
The Knights are scheduled to compete in the first of three 18-hole rounds of the MIAA Spring Tournament used to determine the league's automatic qualifier to to the NCAA III Tournament next month.
Hope is scheduled to host the first 18-hole round this Saturday at the Wuskowhan Player's Club in West Olive.
Calvin is scheduled to host the final two 18-hole rounds at the Watermark Country Club the following weekend.
