OLIVET, Mich. - The Calvin baseball team dropped both ends of a conference doubleheader at Olivet Thursday afternoon, falling 8-2 and 2-1.
In the opener, Olivet snapped Calvin's four-game win streak with an 11-hit attack. The Comets (7-27 overall, 4-18 MIAA) scored two runs in the first, one in the third and five in the fifth.

Calvin (16-18 overall, 10-12 MIAA) scored its two runs in the top of the seventh as sophomore Jonathan Keane (Brookfield, Wisc./Brookfield East HS) drove in two runs with a double. Keane's double plated senior Mike Kempton (Edwardsburg, Mich./Edwardsburg HS) and junior Nate DeZwaan. Kempton reached base on a single and DeZwaan then doubled down the right field line.
DeZwaan and Keane had two hits apiece for Calvin in the loss.

Junior Jamie Bristol (Grand Rapids, Mich./Calvin Christian HS) took the loss on the hill for the Knights, striking out five and walking none in six innings of work.
In game two, Calvin outhit Olivet 13-7 but stranded 14 base runners.
Olivet scored a run in the second but Calvin countered with a run in the top of the fifth as DeZwaan ripped a run-scoring double.
Olivet came back with three hits to score a run in the bottom of the fifth to take a 2-1 lead.
Calvin had several chances to score but could not come up with the key hit. The Knights left two runners on in the sixth and placed two more runners on base in the seventh but failed to score. In the top of the eighth, Calvin loaded the bases but again came up empty.
In the top of the ninth, senior Colton Wolfe (Eaton Rapids, Mich./Eaton Rapids HS) led off with a double. Wolfe's two-base hit went for naught however as the Knights again failed to score.
DeZwaan and Kempton had three hits apiece. Wolfe, junior Ryan Stewart (Detroit, Mich./Parkway Christian HS) and freshman Logan Marshall (Plymouth, Mich./Salem HS) all had two hits each.
Freshman Trevor VanDuyn (Jenison, Mich./Jenison HS) went eight innings for the Knights but took the hard-luck loss to fall to 2-3 on the year. VanDuyn struck out three and did not walk a batter.
Calvin will attempt to salvage the four-game series with Olivet when it hosts the Comets on Saturday in a doubleheader set to begin at 1 p.m.
