Women's Tennis Scores 8-1 Win Over Olivet;
Baseball/Softball Twinbills Postponed;
VanPutten Steal of Home Continues to Make National News;
C' Club to
WOMEN'S TENNIS
The Calvin women's tennis team improved to 5-9 overall and to 3-2 in the MIAA with an 8-1 conference victory over Olivet Tuesday afternoon inside Calvin's Huizenga Tennis and Track Center.
Calvin swept the three doubles flights and then took five of the six singles points.
Victories came from junior Megan Visser (Kalamazoo/Kalamazoo Christian HS) and freshman Claire Spoelhof (Holland/Holland Christian HS) at No. 1 doubles, senior Bethany Zoerhof (Holland/Holland Christian HS) and freshman Ellie Benzel (San Dimas, CA/San Dimas HS) at No. 2 doubles and freshman Liz Turner (Audobon, PA/Delaware County Christian HS) and junior Courtney Selvius (Hudsonville/Unity Christian HS) at No. 3 doubles.
Visser, Spoelhof and Zoerhof then won No. 1, No. 2 and No. 3 singles flights respectively - all by 6-0, 6-0 scores.
Benzel was a 6-1, 6-0 winner at No. 4 singles and Turner a 6-2, 6-1 winner at No. 5 singles.
Calvin will now turn its attention to a Saturday conference match at rival Hope at 1 p.m.
BASEBALL/SOFTBALL
Calvin's baseball and softball contests on Tuesday were postponed by weather. The baseball team was scheduled to face Aquinas in a doubleheader at Kimble Stadium today at 2 p.m. A makeup date for that twinbill has yet to be announced.
The Calvin softball team was scheduled to travel to Saint Mary's for a doubleheader at 3:30 p.m. That doubleheader will be made up on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m.
MORE BASEBALL
The Calvin baseball team continues to receive national and local headlines due to Grand Van Putten's walk-off steal of home Saturday afternoon in a come-from-behind 3-2 victory over Albion.

C' CLUB ANNOUNCES "KNIGHT OF DISTINCTION" AWARD
C Club announces "Knight of Distinction" Award
The Knight of Distinction Award has been established by the Calvin C Club to demonstrate the lifelong benefit of intercollegiate athletics at Calvin College as demonstrated in the lives and witness of former Calvin student-athletes. This award will be granted annually by the Calvin C Club leadership, in partnership with the college's athletic directors, to recognize a former Calvin Knight who has served God, church and community with the Christian character that was partly shaped by participation in the athletic program at Calvin College.
The inaugural winner of this award will be announced at a later date and will be presented the award at the second annual C Club Awards Knight on May 15. In addition to the Knight of Distinction Award, this celebration of Calvin athletics will include a "Year in Review" video and the presentation of 13 student awards, culminating in the Tiemersma and Beré Awards for female and male athlete of the year. If you are a fan of Calvin athletics, this is an evening you will not want to miss.
