Volleyball Takes Over Number-One Spot in AVCA Division III Top 25 Poll;
Women's Soccer Cracks Division III Top 25 Rankings for First Time Since 2010;
Women's Golf Ties for Fourth at North Central College Invitational
VOLLEYBALL
The Calvin women's volleyball team is the number-one ranked team in Division III. The Knights received the number-one ranking the most recent Division III Top 25 poll released by the American Volleyball Coaches Association this afternoon.
Calvin received 37 first place votes in this week's poll with Emory second, St. Thomas third and Elmhurst ranked fourth. Hope is ranked fifth. The Flying Dutch also received one first place vote in the poll.
At 7-0 overall and 3-0 in the MIAA, Calvin is scheduled to travel to Trine on Wednesday for a 6:30 p.m. conference match. Calvin will then participate in the Wittenberg Fall Invitational Friday and Saturday. While there, Calvin will face sixth-ranked Washington University of St. Louis, eighth-ranked Otterbein, Mount St. Joseph and Heidelberg.
A year ago, Calvin took the number-one ranking into the NCAA III Tournament, reaching the national championship finals before eventually falling to St. Thomas in five sets. Calvin then finished second in the final 2012 national poll and entered the 2013 season ranked second as well.

WOMEN'S SOCCER
The Calvin women's soccer team has cracked the National Soccer Coaches Association of America Top 25 poll. The Knights are ranked 19th in this week's poll. It marks the first time since 2010 season that Calvin has been ranked in the NSCAA Top 25.

WOMEN'S GOLF
NAPERVILLE, IL - The Calvin women's golf team tie for fourth place at the North Central College Invitational on Tuesday with a team score of 348. Host North Central took first place with a team score of 327.
Calvin's top individual finisher was senior Carlia Canto (Marysville/Port Huron Northern HS) who tied for ninth with a round of 84.
Sophomore Casey Harkema (Holt/Holt HS) was just two strokes back with an 86 while sophomore Jennie Poole (Summit, NJ/Kent Place School) had an 87.
Rounding out Calvin's finishers were sophomore Sarah Arendsen (Wayland/Wayland HS) with a 91, sophomore Shara Reynolds (Big Rapids/Big Rapids HS) with a 96 and freshman Mackenzie Geels (Sioux Center, IA/Unity Christian HS) with a 106.
Kayla Meyer of Carthage took home medalist honors with a 78.
Calvin is back in action on September 21 when it hosts an invitational at Railside Golf Club in Byron Center.
