MEN'S TRACK AND FIELD
Four members of the Calvin men's track and field team have been named to the United States Track and Field Cross Country Coaches Association All-Academic Team. The four individuals so honored are seniors Nick Kramer and Dan Kerr and juniors Greg Whittle and Matt Vander Roest.
To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 and have met either of the following athletic standards: a student-athlete must have competed in an NCAA Indoor or Outdoor Championship or finished the regular season ranked in the national top 35 in an individual event or ranked in the national top 25 (collective listing) in a relay event on the official NCAA POP list provided by TFRRS.org.
Kramer and Whittle both qualified for the NCAA III Indoor and NCAA III Outdoor Track and Field Championships this past year while Kerr and Vander Roest were qualifiers for the outdoor meet.
Kramer (Dyer, IN/Illiana Christian HS) was an All-American indoors in the 5,000 meters and then captured the national championship in the steeplechase outdoors while also grabbing another 5,000 meter All-America berth outdoors. Whittle meanwhile qualified for the indoor national meet in the mile run and for the outdoor national meet in the 1,500 meters.
Vander Roest was an outdoor qualifier in the 5,000 meters while Kerr was an outdoor qualifier in both the 10,000 and 5,000 meters and claimed an All-America berth in the 10K, placing fifth individually.
