Baseball Drops Two at Adrian;
Track And Field Teams Remain in USTFCCCA Rankings

ADRIAN - The Calvin baseball team dropped both ends of a doubleheader at
nationally-ranked Adrian College Thursday afternoon, falling by scores of 16-4
and 6-0. The Knights are now 10-14 overall and 5-9 in the MIAA.
 
Ranked 13th nationally, Adrian (19-6 overall, 12-2 MIAA) roughed up five
Calvin pitchers for 13 hits in game one. Calvin's pitching staff also issued
seven walks in the 16-4 loss.
 
Calvin had seven hits in defeat including a solo homerun by junior Ben Cok
(Grand Rapids/Grand Rapids Christian HS) in the fourth. Cok went 2-for-4 in the
loss. Sophomore catcher Kyle Spoelma (Kentwood/South Christian HS) also went
2-for-3 with a run scored in defeat. Senior pitcher Joe Lambers (Grosse
Pointe/Grosse Pointe South HS) took the loss for Calvin to fall to 3-3 on the
year.
 
In game two, Calvin matched Adrian with seven hits but the Knights stranded
nine baserunners. Adrian meanwhile, scored two runs in the first, two in the
second, one in the third and one in the fifth.
 
Freshman Ben Wohl (Canton/Plymouth HS) went 2-for-3 for the Knights with a
double. Sophomore Grant VanderWall (Grand Rapids/South Christian HS) took the
loss for Calvin to fall to fall to 2-4 on the year.
 
The two teams will resume the four-game series at Calvin on Saturday with a
doubleheader slated to start at 1 p.m.

MEN'S AND WOMEN'S TRACK AND FIELD
 
For the third straight week, the Calvin men’s track and field team holds a
spot in the top 10 of the United States Track and Field Cross Country Coaches
Association Division III national rankings.
 
The Knights are ranked 10th in this week’s poll after having been ranked sixth
the last two weeks. Calvin is in action this Saturday at the MIAA Jamboree

In addition, the Calvin men’s track and field team is ranked seventh in the
