Calvin Basketball Teams Picked Second in MIAA Preseason Polls;
Rebecca Kamp Named to ESPN Academic All-District Second Team
 
MEN'S BASKETBALL
 
The MIAA men's basketball preseason poll was announced earlier today and
Calvin has been pegged for second place. The Knights received two first place
votes with league favorite Hope receiving the remaining six first place votes.
Olivet was picked to finish third.

The MIAA women's basketball preseason poll was announced earlier today and
Calvin has been picked to finish in second place. The Knights received one
first place votes with league favorite Hope receiving the remaining eight first
place votes. Saint Mary's was picked to finish third.

VOLLEYBALL
 
Calvin College junior Rebecca Kamp has been named to the ESPN The Magazine
Academic All-District IV second team in women’s volleyball in the college
division.
 
The college division includes NCAA II and III schools as well as NAIA
institutions. The ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America program is organized
and voted on by the College Sports Information Director’s Association (CoSIDA)
of America.
 
Kamp carries a 3.88 grade point average while majoring in special education
and minoring in mathematics.
 
Kamp is in the midst of an outstanding junior campaign. She is currently
ranked second nationally in hitting percentage (.453), fourth in blocks-per-set
(1.41), sixth in points-per-set (5.49) and 17th in kills-per-set (4.27).
 
Kamp helped Calvin gain a share of the MIAA regular season title this past
Saturday. The Knights are currently ranked seventh nationally and will face
Alma College in an MIAA Tournament semifinal match Friday at Hope's DeVos
Fieldhouse.
