Men's Soccer Defeats Albion - Remains Tied for First Place in the MIAA Standings

Calvin 2, Albion 1
ALBION - And down the stretch they come. Heading into the final weekend of the MIAA season, Calvin continues to hold a share of first place in the MIAA standings with three teams still in the hunt for the MIAA title.
Calvin remained in the thick of the title hunt with a key 2-1 victory at Albion Wednesday afternoon.
The Knights are 8-2-3 in league play (27 points) and continue to share first place with Hope (27 points) which defeated Kalamazoo 2-0 Wednesday night. Adrian (26 points) is just one point behind as the Bulldogs defeated Olivet 5-3 Wednesday evening.
Hope will travel to Olivet on Saturday while Calvin will host Trine. Adrian, meanwhile, will journey to Alma.
In its win at Albion Wednesday, Calvin scored two first half goals to pick up the win. Junior Miles Colago put Calvin on the board in the 33rd minute, heading in a corner kick from senior Scott Hooker.
Less then six minutes later, Hooker converted his third penalty kick of the year after an Albion defender was whistled for a hand ball in the box. Albion was awarded a penalty kick of its own with 2:59 left in regulation with Mark Feger of Albion converting the PK to cut the deficit in half.
Neither team would score from that point on. Calvin held a 12-10 shots at goal advantage. Senior Ryan Bratt had four saves for the Knights in nets.
