Women's Basketball Snaps Losing Skid With Win Over Clark

Calvin 71, Clark College (MA) 35
DAYTONA BEACH, FL -- The Calvin women's basketball team snapped a three-game losing streak with a 71-35 victory over Clark College of Massachusetts Monday morning in the Land Of Magic Classic. Calvin (6-3) vaulted out to a 37-10 halftime lead and never looked back as the Knights shot 50 percent (15-of-30) from the floor in the opening 20 minutes.
Calvin had 13 players reach the scoring column led by junior Brook Van Eck (Lowell HS) who had 10 points to go with six rebounds. Sophomore Kacy Cryderman (Holt HS) came off the bench to provide eight points on 4-of-4 shooting in her season debut while senior Kelly Trewhella (Rockford HS) also had eight points including a pair of three-point field goals. Senior Kristi Brummel (South Christian HS) was also hot from three-point range, canning 3-of-4 from beyond the long line for nine points. Senior Marcia Harris (Grand Rapids Christian HS) chipped in with seven points and six rebounds while junior Amber Benthem (McBain Christian HS) had seven rebounds and a game-high six assists.
Calvin held a 49-36 rebounding advantage and limited Clark to 22.6 percent field goal shooting.
Calvin will now turn around to face fifth-ranked Wisconsin-Whitewater tomorrow afternoon at 2:00 p.m. at the Embry-Riddle ICI Center. A year ago, Wisconsin-Whitewater placed third at the NCAA III Final Four.
