CALVIN FALL SPORTS TEAMS HIT NCAA III TOURNAMENT TRAIL

Volleyball to Carthage, Women's Soccer to Witt, Men's Soccer to Ohio Wesleyan

VOLLEYBALL HEADED TO CARTHAGE

GRAND RAPIDS — The nationally-ranked Calvin women's volleyball team will
head to Carthage College for an eight-team NCAA III Regional this week. Located
in Kenosha, Wisconsin, Carthage will host a regional that will include five
nationally-ranked teams.

Ranked 16th in the latest Division III Top-25 poll, Calvin (29-4) is scheduled
to face 17th-ranked Wisconsin-LaCrosse (24-9) in a first round match on
Thursday at 7:00 p.m. (E.S.T.). Other nationally-ranked teams in the regional
included fourth-ranked Washington University of St. Louis, ninth-ranked
Wisconsin-Oshkosh and sixth-ranked Carthage. Filling out the field are teams
from Hanover, Wisconsin-Platteville and Carroll. Calvin will be making its 17th
trip to the NCAA III Tournament including its fourth straight. Calvin is 18-18
all-time in NCAA III Tournament play. Calvin has reached the Round of 16 of the
NCAA III Tournament each of the last two years.

Calvin will be meeting Wisconsin-LaCrosse for the first time in NCAA III
Tournament play. Calvin advanced to the NCAA III Tournament by winning the MIAA
regular season and MIAA Tournament titles this year, gaining the MIAA's
automatic bid to the NCAA III Tournament. Wisconsin-LaCrosse received an
at-large bid to the NCAA III Tournament.

Calvin will enter the regional field as the number-four seed while
Wisconsin-LaCrosse is the number-five seed.

Thursday’s winners will play in a regional semifinal match Friday at 8:00
p.m. (EST) against the winner of a Thursday first round meeting between
Carthage and Carroll.

WOMEN'S SOCCER TO FACE CAPITAL UNIVERSITY AT WITTENBERG

The nationally-ranked Calvin women's soccer team is headed to Wittenberg for a
four-team Friday/Saturday NCAA III regional.

Ranked 18th nationally, Calvin (15-3-2) will face Capital (14-5-1) in a first
round game Friday night at 5:00 p.m. with 12th-ranked Wittenberg (17-2-2)
hosting Penn St-Behrend (11-6-3) in Friday's second first round game. Calvin
will be making its fifth appearance in the NCAA III Tournament including its
third straight. The Knights are 3-2-2 all-time in NCAA III Tournament play. A
year ago, Calvin advanced to the national quarterfinals before bowing out in a
penalty kick shootout to Messiah (PA).

Calvin will be facing Capital for the first time in NCAA III Tournament play.
The two teams have met just one prior time with Capital defeating Calvin 3-2 in
a 1998 regular season meeting at Capital.

Calvin advanced to the NCAA III Tournament by gaining the MIAA’s automatic
bid to the tournament. Calvin took first in the regular season and then tied
Albion in the MIAA Tournament finals to gain the most placement points for the
final league standings. Capital also earned an automatic bid to the NCAA III
Tournament, winning the Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament title on Saturday.

Friday’s winners will meet in the regional final at 6:00 p.m.

MEN'S SOCCER TO FACE JOHN CARROLL AT OHIO WESLEYAN

The NCAA III men's soccer bracket has been released and Calvin (14-4-2) will
travel to Delaware, Ohio, on the campus of Ohio Wesleyan for a four-team
tournament scheduled for Friday and Saturday.

Calvin will face John Carroll (12-8-0) in a first round game on Friday at 5:00
p.m. while Ohio Wesleyan (15-5-1) will face Transylvania University (15-2-1) in
Friday's second first round game.

Calvin will be making its seventh overall appearance in the NCAA III
Tournament including its third in the last four years. The Knights are 5-5-1
all-time in NCAA III Tournament play.

Calvin will be facing John Carroll for the first time in NCAA III Tournament
play. The two teams have met once previously with Calvin claiming a 2-1
sudden-death overtime victory over the Blue Streaks in a first round game of
the 2005 Cal Bergsma Memorial Tournament.

Calvin gained an automatic bid to the NCAA III Tournament by winning the MIAA
regular season title, finishing 12-1-1 in league play. John Carroll gained an
automatic bid to the NCAA III Tournament by winning the Ohio Athletic
Conference Tournament title.
