MOLLY KRIKKE NAMED MIAA MVP IN WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL - FOUR CALVIN PLAYERS RECEIVE ALL-MIAA HONORS;
ZONDERVAN THE FIFTH PLAYER FOUR-TIME ALL-MIAA VOLLEYBALL SELECTION

GRAND RAPIDS -- Calvin College senior Molly Krikke has been named the MIAA's Most Valuable Player in women's volleyball. A native of Greenwich, Ohio, Krikke is the ninth individual in Calvin women's volleyball history to receive the award.

A graduate of South Central High School, Krikke also been named to the All-MIAA first team for the second straight year. She is joined on the All-MIAA first team by Calvin teammates Katie Zondervan and Kristen Kalb while Calvin junior Lauren DeGroot has been named to the All-MIAA second team.

A 5-11 middle-blocker/hitter, Krikke is currently averaging 4.82 kills and 1.15 blocks-per-game while hitting at an impressive .329 clip this year. In conference matches this fall, she led the MIAA in kills-per-game (4.78) and was third in hitting percentage (.311) and seventh in blocks-per-game (1.14). Krikke was a two-time MIAA Player of the Week this fall. She was recently named the Division III National Player of the Week by the American Volleyball Coaches Association.

A senior setter, Zondervan is receiving All-MIAA first team honors for the fourth consecutive year. She is just the fifth player in MIAA women's volleyball history to do so. A native of Lakewood, California, Zondervan is among the nation's leaders in assists-per-game average (13.78). In conference play this year, she led the MIAA in assists-per-game (13.19). During the season, she was a three-time MIAA Specialty Player of the Week. Over the course of her Calvin career, the Valley Christian High School graduate was a nine-time MIAA Specialty Player of the Week recipient.

Kalb is a senior outside hitter from Stow, Ohio. A graduate of Stow-Munroe Falls High School, Kalb is receiving All-MIAA first team honors for the second time in her career. A stellar all-around player, Kalb is averaging 4.49 kills, 3.19 digs and 0.31 service aces per-game. In conference play this fall, she was third in the MIAA in kills-per-game (4.40) and ninth in hitting percentage (.243). During the year, she was a two-time MIAA Player of the Week.

A native of Tulare, California, DeGroot is receiving All-MIAA second team honors for the second straight year. A graduate of Central Valley Christian High School, DeGroot is averaging 5.68 digs-per-game from her spot in the back row as Calvin's libero. In conference play, she finished second in the MIAA in digs-per-game (5.69). During the fall, she was a two-time MIAA Specialty Player of the Week.

Calvin captured the 2007 MIAA regular season title with a 15-1 conference record. The Knights then claimed their fourth straight MIAA Tournament title this past weekend. Ranked 16th in the latest Division III Top-25 poll, Calvin (29-4) will face 17th-ranked Wisconsin-LaCrosse in a first round NCAA III Tournament match at 7:00 p.m. (EST) Thursday evening in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Calvin will be participating in an eight-team regional hosted by Carthage College.
