CALVIN FIELDHOUSE CAPACITY REDUCED FOR UPCOMING BASKETBALL SEASON
The capacity of the Calvin Fieldhouse has been reduced for the upcoming
2007-08 Calvin men's and women's basketball seasons.
The reduction is due to the current construction of the adjoining Spoelhof
Athletic Complex.
Because of the current construction, the only access to the Calvin Fieldhouse
this year is through the West or Northwest doors. Out of concern for the
safety of all of those attending games due to the limited accessibility,
Calvin, in accordance with the Fire Marshall of Grand Rapids, has decided to
limit the capacity of the Fieldhouse for all events to approximately 2,500
seats. The original capacity of the Calvin Fieldhouse is 4,500 seats.
Due to this limited capacity, even those who normally get in to basketball
games for free with their faculty, staff or student ID's will be asked to pick
up a complimentary ticket at the door or at the Box Office so that Calvin's
Campus Events staff is able to track how many people have been let into each
game.
In addition, Calvin will be ticketing both men's and women's varsity
basketball games from now on. Prices are $5 for adults and $2 for children.
Tickets for men's & women's games will be available at the doors as usual, but
they will also be available for pre-purchase at the Box Office. All home games
are currently on sale for the general public except tickets for the January 26
men's basketball game with Hope and the February 9 Homecoming men's basketball
game against Adrian which will have later on-sale dates.
