CALVIN SPORTS REPORT FOR THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 13, 2007

Calvin 3, Tri-State 1 (30-24, 30-25, 23-30, 30-15)
ANGOLA, IN -- The Knights travelled to Tri-State University to continue conference play and came away with their third MIAA victory of the season and 34th consecutive leauge victory. Calvin (6-1, 3-0 MIAA) took the match in four games, winning the fourth by 15 points after giving up the third game.
Calvin's hitting percentage significantly topped Tri-State's in every game but the third, where Calvin was 13 percent on attacks and Tri-State was successful on 30 percent of its attempts. Overall Calvin beat out Tri-State 59-43 on kills and 95-77 on digs.
Senior Molly Krikke (Greenwich, OH/South Central) was the leading contributor at the net with 19 kills and 4 blocks. Continuing her impressive first season as college athlete, freshman Kim Wigboldy (Scottsdale, AZ/Valley Christian) had 12 kills and 12 digs. Also strong on both offense and defense was senior Kristen Kalb (Stow, OH/Stow-Munroe Falls) with 11 kills and 13 digs.
Senior setter Katie Zondervan dished out 51 assists and had 13 digs this evening, while junior Lauren DeGroot (Tulare, CA/Central Valley Christian) amassed 22 digs and sophomore Kelsey Sears (Traverse City/Traverse City West) contributed 17 digs and three service aces.
The Knights will be on the road again this weekend participating in the Wittenberg Border Battle, a tournament between Michigan and Ohio schools. Calvin is scheduled to compete at 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. on Friday and at noon and 4 p.m. on Saturday.
