CALVIN SPRING SPORTS REPORT FOR MARCH 23, 2007

MENS TENNIS

ORLANDO, FL -- Make it three for three for the Calvin men's tennis team. Under
the direction of head coach John Ross, Calvin picked up its third consecutive
win over a regionally-ranked opponent, handing the University of Chicago a 5-4
defeat on Friday afternoon. Friday's match featured a meeting of
regionally-ranked teams as Calvin came in ranked 11th in the Central Region
while Chicago was ranked eighth.

Calvin (5-1 overall) took an early 2-1 lead by winning two of the three doubles
points. Chicago rallied by winning three singles matches to tie the score at
4-4 with just the No. 1 singles match between Calvin junior Ricky Tilton (Gap,
PA) and Chicago's Vivek Venkataram led to be completed. Tilton was up to the
challenge, winning the match 6-4, 7-5, fighting off several come-back surges by
Venkataraman to clinch the team victory for the Knights.

Also picking up singles victories for Calvin on Friday were sophomore Marcus
Zeilstra (Oak Brook, IL) at No. 2 singles and senior Dan Volkema (Holland
Christian HS) at No. 6 singles. Tilton and Zeilstra teamed up for a win at No.
1 doubles while Volkema and senior David Sneller (Sheboygan, WI) picked up a
win at No. 3 doubles.

"We had some guys really step up when we needed them to," said Ross. "We've had
a very successful spring trip but we've got several tough matches coming up so
we can't rest on our laurels."

Calvin returns to action on Thursday when it hosts Division II Grand Valley
State in a non-conference match at 3:00 p.m.
