Four Calvin Fall Sports Teams Nationally-Ranked;
Lisa Winkle Named Pre-Season All-American by WDIII News - Team Ranked 15th
CALVIN FALL SPORTS TEAMS NATIONALLY-RANKED
Four Calvin fall sports teams continue to hold spots in the national rankings.
Under the direction of head coach Mark Recker, the women's soccer team is
ranked third in this week's D3kicks.com Top-25 poll and fourth in this week's
National Soccer Coaches Association Division III Top-25 poll. It marks an
improvement of one spot in each poll for the Knights who improved to 14-0-0
with a 7-0 win over Alma Tuesday afternoon at Calvin's Zuidema Field.

The Knights return to action on Thursday when they host previously
nationally-ranked Chicago at 4:00 p.m.
The women's volleyball team led by head coach Amber Warners has also moved up
one spot in the national rankings as the Knights are ranked 17th in this week's
American Volleyball Coaches Association Division III Top 25 poll. Calvin is
currently 19-1 overall and 12-0 in the MIAA standings. The Knights hit the
national rankings five weeks ago at the #24 spot, moved up to #22, then to #19
and then up to #18 last week.
Calvin returns to action on Wednesday when it hosts Olivet at 6:30 p.m. The
Knights are also scheduled to compete at the Millikin Invitational this weekend
and will face #10 Central College (IA) at the weekend tournament on Saturday.

In addition, both Calvin cross country teams continue to be nastionally-ranked.
Under the direction of head coach Brian Diemer, the men's team is ranked
number-one while the women's team is ranked number-six. The men's team received
all eight first place votes in this week's poll. The Knights have been ranked

The women's team has moved up one spot from last week. The Knights opened the
year ranked 14th, moved up to eighth, then sixth and then moved back to seventh
last week.

LISA WINKLE NAMED PRE-SEASON ALL-AMERICAN BY WDIII NEWS
Calvin College senior Lisa Winkle has been named a pre-season All-American by
the Women's Division III Newsletter. A 6-0 center, Winkle averaged 15.7 points
and 9.8 rebounds a game a year ago while connecting on 59.7 percent of her
field goal attempts. She helped Calvin finish 23-5 overall and reach the NCAA
III Tournament for the second straight year.
In addition the Calvin women's basketball team is ranked #15 in the pre-season
top-25 poll by the publication. Defending national champion Hope is ranked
fourth. Scranton (PA) is the top-ranked team followed by Southern Maine at #2
and Baldwin-Wallace at #3.
