CALVIN WEEKEND SPORTS WRAP-UP FOR APRIL 15, 2006

MEN'S GOLF TAKES FOURTH AT DAVENPORT INVITE

The Calvin men's golf team took fourth in a field of seven teams at the
Davenport Invitational held this past Friday and Saturday at the Thornapple
Pointe Golf Club in Ada. Calvin posted a three-round team score of 983 strokes,
33 strokes behind third place Aquinas and 16 strokes ahead of fifth place
Taylor University. Olivet took first place with a overall score of 934
strokes.

Calvin's top individual finisher was senior Ryan Fischer (North Haledon, NJ)
with a three-round total of 234 (76-78-80) while junior Jeff TenBrink
(Kalamazoo Christian HS) was second with a score of 239 (78-80-81). Other
Calvin finishers included freshman Brad Tindall with a score of 246 (80-82-84)
and freshman Drew Virkus (Kalamazoo Christian HS) with a score of 267
(89-85-93).

Calvin has one event left on its spring schedule which will take place when
the Knights compete at the Furniture City Classic on April 25 at the L.E.
Kauffman Golf Course in Wyoming (MI).

CALVIN ASSISTANT CROSS COUNTRY COACHES TO COMPETE IN BOSTON MARATHON MONDAY

A pair of Calvin assistant cross country coaches will compete in the fabled
Boston Marathon on Monday as Laura Scholma and Joel Alberts are both set to
compete after qualifying this past fall with their performances at the Chicago
Marathon.

Both individuals are graduates of Grand Rapids Christian High School and
alumni of the Calvin cross country and track and field programs. Scholma
currently serves as an assistant coach with the Calvin women's cross country
team. Alberts served as a student assistant coach of the Calvin men's cross
country team this past fall.
