LISA WINKLE NAMED TO ESPN THE MAGAZINE ACADEMIC ALL-DISTRICT IV WOMEN'S
BASKETBALL TEAM

For the second consecutive year, Calvin's Lisa Winkle has been named to the
ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District first team in women's basketball. A
junior forward from Grand Rapids, Winkle has been named to the first team in
the college division and is now eligible for Academic All-America
consideration.

The college division includes schools at the NCAA II and III levels as well as
NAIA institutions. District IV includes schools in the states of Ohio,
Michigan, Kentucky, Tennessee and Alabama.

The CoSIDA Academic All-District and All-America teams are selected by the
College Sports Information Director's Association of America (CoSIDA). To be
eligible for nomination, an individual must be a starter or a key reserve with
a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.20. In addition, student-athletes must have
completed one full academic year at their respective institutions.

A graduate of Grand Rapids South Christian High School, Winkle carries a 3.95
grade point average. She is an education major with an emphasis in
mathematics. She is a five-time member of the Calvin Dean's List and a
two-time member of the MIAA Academic Honor Roll.

On the floor, Winkle is averaging 15.6 points and 9.4 rebounds a game while
connecting on 60.7 percent of her field goal attempts for a Calvin team that is
currently 19-2 overall and ranked 10th in the latest D3hoops.com Top-25 poll.
Winkle recently moved into second place on the Calvin career list for rebounds
and into seventh place on the Calvin career scoring list. Heading into
Saturday's game with rival Hope, Winkle has 1,158 points and 637 rebounds.
She is one of just five players in Calvin women's basketball history to score
more than 1,000 points and grab more than 500 rebounds.

Winkle is one of two players from the MIAA to be named to the all-district IV
first team as Albion senior Jaime Fornetti has also been named to the first
team. Also named to the first team from the West Michigan area is Ferris State
junior Erin Miller.
