JENISON * The Calvin women's swimming and diving team put together a record-setting performance on the first day of the MIAA Swimming and Diving Championships * en route to building a first place total of 234 points. With two days of competition left at the Jenison Aquatic Center, the Calvin women's team holds a commanding 101 point lead over second place Hope.

Calvin posted four MIAA record performances on Thursday with junior Becky Weima of Grand Rapids Christian High School having a hand in three of them. Weima led off Calvin's 200 freestyle relay with a split of 23.52, allowing her to break her own MIAA and school record time of 23.79 set as a freshman in 2004. Weima's effort allowed Calvin's 200 freestyle relay team to take first place with a time of 1:36.03. She was joined on the relay by junior Liz Ingebrigtsen (Bensenville, IL), freshman Cara VanWoerkom (Calvin Christian HS) and sophomore Kat Vinson (Kaneohe, HI). In the morning prelims, the Calvin quartet clocked in with a school and MIAA record time of 1:35.83, breaking the previous record of 1:36.03 set by Calvin's 2002 team. The time in the prelims was also a strong NCAA III provisional qualifying time.
