CALVIN SPORTS REPORT FOR OCTOBER 2, 2005

CALVIN FALL SPORTS ATHLETES RECEIVE MIAA PLAYER OF THE WEEK HONORS

A trio of Calvin fall sports athletes have received MIAA Player of the Week
accolades for their performances last week.

In men's soccer, sophomore forward Jared Litty has been named MIAA Offensive
Player of the Week for the first time in his career. A native of Hudsonville
and a graduate of Hudsonville High School, Litty came off the bench last week
to spark the nationally-ranked Knights to conference victories over Adrian and
Tri-State last week.

In a 2-1 double-overtime victory at Adrian on Tuesday, Litty scored the
game-tying goal with under two minutes to play. He followed with a pair of
goals in a 4-0 win at Tri-State on Saturday. Litty currently leads 10th-ranked
Calvin in goals and points with eight goals and 16 points on the year.

In volleyball, Calvin has landed both MIAA Player of the Week spots as junior
outside hitter Lorilyn Vogel has been named MIAA Player of the Week while
sophomore setter Kate Zondervan (Lakewood, CA) has been named MIAA Specialty
Player of the Week.

A native of Orange City, Iowa, Vogel averaged 5.9 kills per game, hitting at
.426,
as the Knights won three conference matches. She notched double-digits in
kills in all three matches as she had a career-high 23 kills in a four-game win
at Adrian, 18 kills in a three-game win over Kalamazoo and 18 kills in a
three-game win over Albion. A graduate of Unity Christian High School of
Northwest Iowa, Vogel is receiving MIAA Player of the Week honors for the first
time in her career.

Zondervan is receiving MIAA Specialty Player of the Week accolades for the
second time this year and for the fourth time in her career. A native of
Lakewood, California, Zondervan averaged 15.4 assists and 2.7 digs per game in
Calvin's three conference victories last week. A graduate of Valley
Christian High School, Zondervan notched a season-high 70 assists in Calvin's
four-game win at Adrian last Tuesday night.
