MEN'S CLUB LACROSSE

BLAINE, MN * The Calvin men's club lacrosse team closed out play at the MDIA Division B National Tournament with a 14-10 victory over Davidson Friday morning. Calvin had opened play with an 8-7 overtime loss to second-seeded Utah Valley State the night before.

May 12 2005

Utah Valley State 8, Calvin 7 (OT)

No. 2 Utah Valley State 8, No. 7 Calvin 7 (OT)
Second-seeded Utah Valley State barely survived its Men's B Division quarterfinal game with No. 7 Calvin at the 2005 US Lacrosse Intercollegiate Associates National Championships in Blaine, Minn. Freshman Adam Hickman scored the game-winner at the 2:55 mark in overtime to beat the Knights 8-7. Calvin led 6-4 late in the fourth quarter but UVS scored three goals in the final 3:32 of the game to take a 7-6 lead. Calvin then tied the game with five seconds left on senior Adam Pietrocarlo's fourth goal of the game. The Wolverines received six points from the Simmons brothers, Brodie (3g, 1a) and James (1g, 1a). UVS moves on to play No. 6 Harding in Friday's semifinal game.

May 13, 2005

Calvin 14, Davidson 10

 For the second straight day third-seeded Davidson suffered a loss. This time No. 7 Calvin defeated the Wildcats 14-10. Calvin closes out the tournament in a tie for fifth place and with a final season record of 13-4.
