CALVIN MEN'S SOCCER/WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL NCAA III TOURNAMENT INFORMATION

The Calvin men's soccer team will get a first round bye and a chance to play
at home this coming Saturday afternoon in a second round NCAA III Tournament
game.

Ranked eighth nationally, the Calvin men's soccer team (18-1-1) will host
the winner of a first round game between Wartburg (IA) (17-1-2) and Dominican
(IL) (15-3-3). The first round game between Wartburg and Dominican will be
played on Wednesday at Wartburg.

Saturday's second round game against the Wartburg/Dominican winner will be
an early afternoon game at Calvin Field with a starting time to be announced.

The Calvin men's soccer team is making its fifth trip to the NCAA III
Tournament including its first since 1991. The Knights are 3-4 in four prior
trips to the NCAA's with their best-ever finish an advance to the national
quarterfinal round in 1980.

Calvin earned a bid to the NCAA III Tournament by winning the MIAA regular
season title. Calvin clinched the title with a 1-0 victory over Hope Saturday
afternoon, allowing the Knights to claim their first outright league crown
since 1987.

Meanwhile, the Calvin women's volleyball team will prepare for a road trip
as the Knights will journey to Central College in Pella, Iowa. Calvin (27-8)
will open NCAA III Tournament play against Nebraska Wesleyan (17-11) in a match
scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m. (ET)

The winner of the Calvin/Nebraska Wesleyan match will face sixth-ranked
Washington University of St. Louis (28-6) Friday night in a second round match.
Washington University is the top-seeded team in the regional field hosted by
Central College. Central is the second seed with Elmhurst (IL) (30-10) the
third seed, Nebraska Wesleyan the fourth seed, Calvin the fifth seed and
Fontbonne University (MO) the sixth seed.

Fontbonne will face third-seeded and 21st ranked Elmhurst in a second first
round match Thursday night. The Fontbonne/Elmhurst winner will face Central
College Friday night in a second round match.

The Calvin women's volleyball team earned a trip to the NCAA III Tournament
with a four-game victory over Alma Saturday afternoon in the MIAA Tournament
Championship final. The loss was the first of the year for 18th-ranked Alma.
Alma also gained a bid to the NCAA III Tournament and will travel to Ohio for a
first round match.

Calvin will be making its 14th trip to the NCAA III Tournament with its
best-ever finish a national runner-up spot in 1986 when the Knights hosted the
NCAA III Final Four. In 13 prior trips to the NCAA III Tournament, Calvin is
13-15 (.464). Calvin will be facing a Nebraska Wesleyan team that is making
its eighth appearance in the NCAA III Tournament. The Prairie Wolves received
a Pool 'B at-large bid to the NCAA III Tournament as they belong to the Great
Plains Athletic Conference which is comprised primarily of NAIA schools
including Calvin's sister institution Dordt College (IA).
