CALVIN SPORTS REPORT PART TWO FOR SEPTEMBER 11, 2004
WOMEN'S GOLF
ST. LOUIS, MI * Competing in a field of nine teams, Calvin tied for sixth in the first MIAA outing of the year with a team score of 393 strokes. Saturday's outing was hosted by Alma at the Hidden Oaks Golf Club. Calvin tied for sixth with Hope, 90 strokes ahead of eighth place Adrian and just three strokes behind fifth place Alma.
St. Mary's posted a commanding first place score of 332 strokes, 24 strokes ahead of second place Albion.
Calvin's top individual finisher on Saturday was junior Margaret Tassaro (Carnegie, PA) who fired a round of 88 which was good for a tie for eighth place. Also firing a sub-100 round for the Knights was junior Annie Huizenga (Unity Christian HS) who came in at 94. Rounding out Calvin's individual finishers were senior Dawn Svenkeson (Scandia, MN) with a round of 100, sophomore Abby Stemler (Elk River, MN) with a round of 111 and sophomore Megan Andrews (Midland) with a round of 131.
Calvin returns to action on Wednesday when it faces Aquinas in a non-conference match at the Thornapple Pointe Golf Club beginning at 2:00 p.m. Calvin's next MIAA outing will be September 22 when Kalamazoo hosts an outing at the Milham Park Golf Club.
