CALVIN SPORTS WRAP-UP FOR MARCH 27, 2004

BASEBALL

Calvin closed out its spring trip in Fort Myers, Florida with an 8-4 loss to
Mount Vernon Nazarene Friday morning at Terry Park.

Calvin will take a 3-7 record into a conference doubleheader with Kalamazoo
Monday afternoon. The doubleheader (two 7 inning games) is scheduled to begin
at Kalamazoo at 2:00 p.m.. If wet field conditions come into play, the
doubleheader may be moved to Calvin on Monday.

Regardless of the site of Monday's twinbill, there will be no internet
broadcast on Monday. The first scheduled Calvin baseball broadcast on the
internet will be Friday, April 2, when the Knights host Hope in a single game
at 3:00 p.m..

In its loss to Mount Vernon Nazarene (11-8) Friday, Calvin fell behind 5-0 but
battled back with four runs in the bottom of fifth to close to within one.
Mount Vernon Nazarene answered with three runs in the top of the seventh
however to put the game out of reach.

Sophomore Tim Stoeffler (Ionia HS) took the loss for Calvin to fall to 0-2 on
the year. Stoeffler was credited with 6.2 innings of work on the mound as he
struck out two and walked two. Calvin collected seven hits with sophomore Andy
Draayer (Denver, CO) leading the way by going 2-for-3 at the plate including an
RBI double. Freshman Jon Henderson (Ottawa Hills HS) also piced up a double
for the Knights.

Mount Vernon Nazarene had 12 hits in the victory.
