    MEN'S GOLF

SAUGUTUCK - A season-best team score allowed the Knights to creep closer to
second place in the overall team standings at an MIAA outing hosted by Hope at
the Clearbrook Golf Club Monday afternoon.

Calvin finished second in the seven-team field with a score of 301 -
Calvin's best score in MIAA play this fall. Calvin's total was just
five strokes behind the host Flying Dutchmen of Hope who took first with a
score of 296 but was also nine strokes better than third place Olivet which
finished with a team score of 310.

The nine-stroke advantage allowed the Knights to move within four strokes of
second-place Olivet in the overall MIAA team standings with two league outings
left to play. The MIAA season will conclude with an MIAA outing Saturday at
the Lenawee Country Club in Adrian and an MIAA outing hosted by Calvin a week
from today at the Watermark Country Club in Grand Rapids.

In Monday's outing at the Clearbrook Golf Club, freshman Jeff TenBrink
(Kalamazoo Christian HS) with a season-best round of 70, just three strokes
behind medalist Ryan Shedd of Hope who matched an MIAA record for a

continued to sizzle for the Knights as he finished fourth individually with a
season-best score of 74, leaving him tied for fourth in the MIAA individual
standings with an average of 76.6.

Senior Matt Kelly (Western Michigan Christian HS) was also superb for the
Knights, cracking the top-12 for the third time this year with a round of 78
that left him in a three-way tie for 10th place.

Rounding out Calvin's finishers were senior Ryan Brandsma (Hinsdale, IL)
with a 79 and junior Mike Bratt (Lynden, WA) with an 81.
