CALVIN SPORTS REPORT FOR MARCH 22, 2003
MEN'S SWIMMING
Atlanta,GA - Calvin acquired their second best national finish with 12th place
and 111 points. The Knights had two All-American performances this evening,
one as an individual and one in a relay.
In the 200 fly, sophomore Peter Boumgarden (Naperville, IL) finished in sixth
place with a 1:52.62, a time that beat his previous school record of 1:52.65.
This is Boumgarden's second All-American performance during these championships
and his third in his young career.
The Knights also celebrated a seventh place finish in the 400-yard freestyle
relay with a time of 3:05.02. The team of Boumgarden, junior Brad White
(Traverse City) and seniors A.J. Penninga(Grand Rapids Christian HS) and Ryan
Johnson (Grand Haven HS) was merely .06 seconds out of sixth place.
Kalamazoo had the best finish for MIAA schools in tenth place with 124 points,
while Hope finished just behind Calvin with 95.5 points.
